New City School
New City School focuses on preparing students for success in life, not simply success in school. The school provides an unparalleled academic experience that incorporates a comprehensive academic curriculum with the development of personal intelligence or EQ, diversity that is embedded throughout the curriculum, and joyful learning. New City's comprehensive curriculum gives graduates the skills they need to succeed in the academic and professional environments of their choice. In addition to strong academic skills, New City students are taught important skills in the areas of intrapersonal and interpersonal development - the ability to know themselves and to work well with others. The student body is diverse, enabling students to develop a respect and appreciation for different perspectives and experiences. These skills are taught in an environment that encourages children's innate curiosity and love for learning. New City School graduates go to secondary schools and into the world with a passionate curiosity and self-confidence that positions them to achieve success in their academic, professional and personal lives. Housed in a turn-of-the-century school building less than a mile east of Washington University in the City's Central West End, New City School's dynamic learning community is an exciting place for children and families to learn and grow. Through the use of Multiple Intelligences, New City School provides children with many different ways to learn and succeed. Full-time specialists include technology, library, science, school counselor, Spanish, art, physical education, learning specialist, performing arts and creative movement.
