Founded in 1923, John Burroughs School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 7-12 located on a 49-acre campus in St. Louis, Missouri. Burroughs currently has 650 students, 46% of whom identify as students of color. Twenty-six percent of the student body receives tuition aid.

John Burroughs School is seeking to hire a varsity head coach as well as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. The season begins on Monday, November 11, and continues through the state tournament in February.  

Responsibilities

  • Leads the JBS Wrestling Program with integrity while focusing on the individual growth and development of the student athletes. 
  • Builds a positive culture which leads to growth of a sustainable program.
  • Organizes and coordinates instruction of skills throughout all levels of program (grades 7-12).
  • Instructs JBS students/athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training consistent with the department mission.
  • Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community.
  • Supervises practices, games, and team trips.
  • Seeks to continually update personal knowledge of the technical aspects of wrestling and exhibits an eagerness to continue to examine and learn new ideas pertinent to the coaching of wrestling and coaching in general.
  • Learns and strives to follow all other duties and responsibilities in the JBS Coaches Handbook.

Salary commensurate with experience.
