Upper School Science Teacher Villa Duchesne
Villa Duchesne is seeking a full-time Upper School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Science teachers at Villa teach four classes with their fifth section reserved for science lab time.
The Villa Duchesne Science Department curriculum cultivates a myriad of skills including using representations and models to communicate scientific phenomena and solve scientific problems, engaging in scientific questioning and labs to extend thinking and guide investigations, and engaging in data acquisition analysis and evaluation of evidence. Candidates with a master’s degree in a STEM field, AP experience, and three to five years of teaching experience are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach Physics, AP Physics, and/or the physical sciences.
The ideal candidate will also:
· collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve curriculum and find new ways to integrate STEM skills into each class;
· be organized and responsive to lesson planning, grading, and communication;
· be a relational educator who contributes to the life of the school community as an advisor, club moderator, and proctor;
· be willing to sponsor student-interest-driven clubs related to science topics;
· be dedicated to the success of each student;
· create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters strong intellectual growth and an age-appropriate curriculum that addresses the needs of adolescent girls;
· exhibit exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build strong rapport and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues;
· effectively integrate technology into the classroom and utilize a variety of student-centered teaching strategies to engage all students and promote active learning.
· demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, with a desire to stay current with research and best practices in science education, pedagogy, and adolescent development; and
· actively pursue professional growth opportunities and contribute to the Science Department’s curriculum review and development.
