Summer Camp Nurse New City School
Come and spend the summer with us! New City Summer Camp is seeking a kind, caring, and energetic individual to serve as our Summer Camp Nurse during the day for participants during the second half our 2025 summer programming (July 14 - August 8). Campers range in age from 3 years old through rising 6th Graders. This is a part-time seasonal position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the preseason set-up and the postseason closing of the Health Center, which includes performing an opening/closing inventory of all supplies and equipment and ordering supplies/equipment as needed and approved
• Assess and assist with the health and hygiene needs of campers
• Administer medication and treatment to campers throughout their time at camp
• Identify pertinent camper medical needs and ensures that this information is communicated with the appropriate camp staff
• Provide for proper medical intervention regarding camper and/or staff illness, condition, or emergency care and makes appropriate referrals and provides for follow up care as warranted
• Administer immediate first aid to injured parties, performs assessments, implements intervention as guided by medical judgment
• Keep records in CampBrain regarding administration of medication, prescribed treatments, and other health and medical needs
• Make rounds throughout the camp checking on campers, staff and the health and safety of the camp in general. Report facility and grounds health risk factors
• Complete and follow up on incident reports
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Licensed as a Paramedic, LPN or RN
• Previous experience as a camp nurse preferred
• Familiarity with medications, including insulin
• Knowledge of summer camp health practices a plus
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required
• Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details
• Must have a clean criminal background.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
EMPLOYMENT DATES: July 14 - August 8, 2025
STARTING PAY: $21-$23/hr, commensurate with experience. Lunch is provided; camp options for dependent children are available at a reduced rate.
