Position Title: Summer Maker Camp Teacher

Location: The St. Michael Episcopal Day School

Duration: Summer Session (June 2 - August 1, 2025)

Hours: Monday - Friday (7:30 AM - 3:30 PM or 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM)

Class: 6-10 Students, Infant, Toddler, PreK-1st grade students

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and creative Summer Teachers to join our Maker Camp, a unique summer program designed to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences for Infant, Toddler,PreK-1st grade students. This special program serves families looking for a fun, educational, and nurturing environment for their young children during the summer months. With small class sizes, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful connections with students while guiding them through a variety of exciting activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities for students, including games, art projects, and interactive learning journeys.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.

  • Supervise and engage students during indoor and outdoor play, movie time, and other group activities.

  • Collaborate with camp staff to ensure a smooth daily schedule and adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of the students.

  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about their child’s experiences and progress throughout the summer.

  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom space, ensuring all materials are prepared and accessible for daily projects.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children (PreK-1st grade preferred), such as teaching, childcare, or camp counseling.

  • Passion for hands-on learning, creativity, and working with small groups of students.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of personalities and learning styles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • Patience, energy, and a playful spirit to keep young learners engaged and excited.

  • Background check and any required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid) preferred or willingness to obtain prior to start date.

  • Degree or coursework in education, child development, or a related field is a plus but not required.
