Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our Specials teaching team as a part-time Music Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will nurture students’ love for music through exposure to great composers, singing, ear training, music appreciation, and opportunities for creative musical expression. This position reports directly to the Asst. Head of School for Teaching & Learning. 

Employee Status & Compensation: 

Start Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2025 

Grade Level: Preschool 3 - Grade 8

Status: A .4250 FTE; 10-month position, 17 hours/week based on class schedule 

Salary Range: Instructional positions range from $40,000 - $50,000 commensurate with education and qualified experience for 1.0 (or the equivalent of) full time employees. 

A .4250 FTE would range from $17,000 - $23,000 

Standard Benefits: holidays, school breaks, 22 hours of PTO, tuition reduction for employee children and a 403b retirement plan with a discretionary match

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate music lessons across PreK-8th grade that align with school philosophy and foster creative growth.

  • Develop a cohesive and aligned scope & sequence of Music education across PreK-8th grade.

  • Guide students developing an appreciation of music as a living art. 

  • Develop and manage a safe and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Organize and lead the Christmas and Spring program in collaboration with classroom teachers to reflect the students’ learning.

  • Maintain an inventory of music resources and equipment and stay within budget guidelines.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic or behavior concerns and classroom updates. 

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching skills and stay updated on educational best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Fine Arts, or a related field

  • Valid teaching certification is preferred 

  • Previous teaching experience with preschool through 8th-grade students (preferred).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Classroom management experience 

  • Passion for creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.

  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
