Second Grade Teacher Rossman School
Rossman School is an independent day school situated on a beautiful 20-acre campus in Creve Coeur, Missouri, serving students in Preschool through Sixth Grade. Small by design, Rossman serves just one class per grade level and approximately 235 students. Rossman’s strong academic program challenges and stretches each student through team teaching with two experienced educators at all grade levels. Joy abounds in this nurturing environment committed to celebrating childhood.
Rossman School is searching for an experienced educator to assume a second grade homeroom position for the 2025-2026 academic year. Working collaboratively, the second grade homeroom teaching team jointly plans and teaches the language arts, mathematics, and social studies curriculum. The language arts curriculum focuses on the development of strong reading skills through small group literature discussions, reading comprehension activities, and independent book reports. The Wilson Fundations program is utilized to support phonics and spelling. To assist in the instruction of the writing process, Rossman uses the 6+1 Traits of Writing program. Cursive instruction is also a hallmark of the second grade year. Everyday Math is our school-wide mathematics curriculum and is supplemented in the classroom with games, projects, and enrichment activities.
The second grade homeroom team forms close working relationships with parents through frequent interactions, both written and verbal. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice yearly, and teachers provide detailed written comments in report cards twice yearly as well. Other “less formal” communication occurs on an as-needed basis.
A highly qualified candidate:
-
Will demonstrate a personal commitment to honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility, the pillars of Rossman’s character program
-
