Part-Time Financial Coordinator The St. Michael School of Clayton

Job description 

St. Michael's Episcopal Day School is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Financial Coordinator to manage our financial records. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, supporting our mission to provide quality education. The position requires approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate school schedules. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Accounting Duties 

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. 

  • Process payroll, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for faculty and staff. 

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations for review by the Head of School and Board of Trustees. 

  • Assist with annual budget planning and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with the school’s financial goals. 

  • Manage tuition billing, collections, and financial aid documentation in coordination with families. 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as school policies. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management preferred. 

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.) preferred. 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • A team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to the values of St. Michael’s Episcopal Day School. 

  • Experience in a school or nonprofit setting is preferred. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

  • Ability to work in an office environment with occasional lifting of materials (up to 25 lbs.) for events or record storage. 

  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend events
