JOB OPENING: PART-TIME ART INSTRUCTOR
POSITION START DATE: August 5, 2025
JOB SUMMARY: Rosati-Kain Academy (RKA) is seeking a dynamic art teacher who will be responsible for instructing and empowering our students to discover and develop their talents in visual arts by conveying the principles of art through lessons on theory and hands-on practice. The school will offer three art classes per semester (drawing, painting and graphics), or 60% of a full teaching load. Applicants may apply to teach one, two or three of those classes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach knowledge and skills in visual art, including drawing, painting, graphics, and art history.
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Understand a variety of artistic techniques.
- Guide students in applying elements of design and modern principles of art to their own work.
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
- Evaluate each student’s performance, growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and demonstration of artistic competence and talent in the creation of their own artworks.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in a Visual Arts discipline required.
- Extensive teaching experience and expertise in fine arts preferred.
- Commitment to utilizing diverse, inclusive, and innovative art curriculum.
- Possess an ability to work in, embrace, and meet the needs of a diverse school community of students, families, faculty/staff, and alumnae.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
