Position Work Days: Fridays only when school is in session
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Salary: $17.68/hour
Position Summary: Our Nursery program is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for our faculty & staff children ages 0-3. For the second half of the 2025-2026 school year, South City Community School will serve a total of five (5) faculty & staff children ranging in age from 2 months to 2 years on Fridays. The ideal candidate will work alongside a full time Nursery staff. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:

Staff expected to be onsite and ready to accept children no later than 8:00am

Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary

Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day

Preparing meals and snacks for the kids

Organizing activities and providing a safe and fun environment

Assisting other staff member(s) in keeping a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day

Keeping daily record of each child’s diaper/restroom usage, food and nap schedule plus any problems that may occur to report to parents each day

Maintaining contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency

Work Environment

Mainly indoors unless age group is such where outdoor activities and playground use can be applicable

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs depending on size of children in Nursery care
Qualifications

Valid CPR and first-aid certifications (SCCS will provide class onsite if needed)

Enthusiasm for working with children in an after school or recreational setting.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.

Dependability, punctuality, and a willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.

Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.

Physical stamina and the ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, such as standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.

High school diploma or equivalent
