Music Teacher - Long Term Substitute Rossman School
Rossman School is searching for an experienced educator to teach music from December 2025–March 2026 while our current music teacher enjoys her maternity leave.
The person in this position plans and teaches the music curriculum for the entire school—Junior Kindergarten through sixth grade. Students learn through a variety of methods and techniques, employing aural, visual, and kinesthetic modes. The elements of music—rhythm, melody, harmony, form, style, and timbre—are presented sequentially as the children are exposed to written music notation and sing, chant, play, and create various styles of music. Movement, listening, and creative dramatics are also important parts of the classroom experience. In music class, children are part of an ensemble, whether playing instruments, singing, or creating a role in a classroom drama; they discover the interdependence of group members in the learning process.
The ideal candidate for this position will have teaching experience and a background in music. This individual will demonstrate a dedication to honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility—the pillars of Rossman’s character program—in his/her interactions with children and adults. He/she will possess a strong work ethic, a love for teaching, an ability to effectively interact with parents, a good sense of humor, flexibility, adaptability, poise, and an overall commitment to a child's academic and social betterment.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to careers@rossmanschool.org with Music Teacher in the subject line.
