Middle School/Upper School Cheer Coach Visitation Academy

Visitation Academy is an independent Catholic school offering a coeducational Montessori program in Grades Toddler through Kindergarten and an all-girl environment in Grades 1 through 12. Visitation Academy is a vibrant and supportive learning community committed to fostering excellence, leadership, and character development in students. Our athletics program plays an important role in promoting school spirit, teamwork, and personal growth. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Cheer Coach to lead and inspire our middle and upper school cheer squads.

Position Overview: The Cheer Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the middle school and upper school cheerleading programs, including planning practices, choreographing routines, coordinating events and performances, and promoting a positive, spirited environment. This position requires strong leadership skills, a passion for mentoring students, and a commitment to developing a successful and inclusive program.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and conduct engaging, organized, and safe practices for middle school and upper school teams.

· Create and teach cheers, chants, and routines for athletic events, pep rallies, and competitions.

· Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, school pride, and personal development among student-athletes.

· Collaborate with athletic department staff, administrators, and event coordinators.

· Maintain communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates.

· Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants through proper technique instruction and risk management practices.

· Support students’ academic and behavioral expectations in line with school values.

Qualifications:

· Previous cheerleading coaching and/or cheer experience required.

· Experience working with middle and/or high school-aged students preferred.

· Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, choreography, conditioning, and safety protocols (AACCA or NFHS certifications are a plus).

· Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

· Ability to work evenings and weekends for practices, games, and competitions as needed.

· CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
