Position Overview

Our independent, educationally progressive school seeks a passionate Middle School Teacher to help lead a new sixth-grade program while teaching and collaborating with the Middle School Team. The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas, foster student voice, and integrate community service and civic engagement into the curriculum.

 

This position requires someone

• Design and implement a student-centered sixth- and seventh-grade curriculum.

• Promote a learning environment where students feel seen,supported, known, and needed.

• Collaborate with school faculty to ensure a cohesive program.

• Incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and community building.

• Comfortable in a collaborative work environment

• Lead middle school learning beyond the classroom walls: on the property, out in the city, and in the woods

 

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

• Ability and passion to work with diverse students, including those with varied learning styles

• Partner effectively with parents/guardians, faculty members, and administrators

• Seek feedback from students, supervisor and colleagues, and actively pursue professional development opportunities

• Willingness to contribute to the organization and leadership of the school through committee or special project participation

• Strategic thinking skills with a strong work ethic and positive attitude

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and middle-level learner experience.

• Commitment to progressive education and fostering civic engagement.

• Strong collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills.
