Lower School Teacher (First Grade) Villa Duchesne

Villa Duchesne is seeking a dynamic and mission-centered First Grade Teacher for the upcoming school year. The First Grade Teacher fosters a love of learning, curiosity, and confidence in young students as they build foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and social-emotional development. This educator designs and delivers a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the growth of the whole child during this important early elementary year.

Through engaging, hands-on lessons and intentional relationship-building, the First Grade Teacher helps students develop early reading and writing skills, number sense, and independence as learners. This role fosters a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment where students are encouraged to take academic risks, build confidence, and develop a strong sense of responsibility and belonging, while contributing to the vibrant life of the Lower School community.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep understanding of early childhood development and a commitment to student-centered learning. They bring energy, creativity, and strong instructional practices to the classroom, using differentiated instruction and thoughtful assessment to meet the needs of all learners. This educator values collaboration and works closely with colleagues and families to support each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

All Faculty and Staff at Villa Duchesne must commit to educating by the values articulated in the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools in the United States and Canada. Our Villa Duchesne Sacred Heart educators inspire our students every day with learning and community opportunities.
