Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term substitute teacher to cover maternity leave for our Middle School Social Studies teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about teaching social studies along with committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

Employee Status & Compensation: 

Start Date: Flexible with a potential start in December 2024. 6-8 weeks depending on maternity leave time taken.  

Grade Levels: 5th – 8th with a 6th grade dedicated homeroom assignment 

Status: Temporary position 

Salary: $250/day paid on a bi-weekly basis 

Hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging lessons incorporating living books, narration, and hands-on activities according to established curriculum.
  • Follow existing lesson plans while working with student support to adapt to the needs of diverse learners if needed. 
  • Lead 6th grade homeroom in Christian fellowship and formation.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages curiosity and a love for learning.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Middle School Team Leader, other Middle School teachers and the Asst. Head of School for Teaching and Learning. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism and adherence to SCCS school policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience is highly desirable. Experience with Middle School students is a plus. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
