Long Term Spanish Sub St. Michael’s Episcopal Day School
Position Overview:
The Long-Term Substitute Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish instruction to students ranging from infants to 6th grade in a small, multi-age school environment. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of a wide range of learners.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver Spanish language lessons that are age-appropriate for infants through 6th-grade students.

Create a nurturing environment that encourages language acquisition and cultural exploration.

Follow creative approaches as needed to maintain continuity and student engagement.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate Spanish into daily routines and cross-curricular projects.

Maintain regular communication with the Directors, Head of School, and staff about student progress and classroom needs.

Uphold the school’s mission and values, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.

Manage classroom behavior effectively and maintain a safe and supportive space for all students.

Prepare and adapt materials for different age groups, from early childhood through upper elementary.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in teaching Spanish as a second language.

Experience teaching or working with children across multiple age groups, ideally in a small school setting.

Strong classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instruction.

Collaborative mindset and comfort working in a close-knit school community.

Ability to commit to the full duration of the long-term substitute assignment.
