Junior Summer Camp Counselors New City School
Come and spend the summer with us! New City School Junior Summer Camp Counselors will work with other adults to plan activities, supervise, and play with campers during our 2025 summer programming. Campers range in age from 3 years old through rising 7th Graders.
Junior Counselors are the heartbeat of camp! They bring energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to every aspect of the camp day. As a Junior Counselor, you’ll work directly with campers to ensure they are engaged, having fun, and building positive relationships with their peers. You’ll also collaborate with senior staff to enforce camp rules and maintain a safe, supportive environment where all campers can thrive.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 16 years old by the start of employment
• A passion for working with children in a fun, high-energy camp environment
• Ability to connect with campers and create a positive, inclusive atmosphere
• Willingness to fully participate in camp activities, including games, skits, and talent shows
• Confidence to set boundaries and serve as a positive role model and authority figure
• Enthusiasm, creativity, adaptability, and a great sense of humor
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from senior staff
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Be a constant source of fun and positivity for campers, leading by example in every activity
• Fully immerse yourself in the camp spirit, including dressing up in costumes, performing in skits, and participating in games and talent shows
• Help facilitate daily activities and transitions, ensuring campers are safe, engaged, and having fun
• Build strong, supportive relationships with campers while maintaining authority as a role model
• Provide encouragement and guidance to campers as they try new activities and navigate challenges
• Actively supervise campers during group times, activities, and meals, ensuring safety and inclusion
• Collaborate with other counselors and specialists to deliver an unforgettable camp experience
• Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, setting the tone for camper engagement
• Model respect for others, kindness, and teamwork at all times
• Communicate effectively with Lead Counselors and Camp Directors about any camper concerns or challenges
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Willingness to embrace camp traditions and encourage camper involvement
• Creativity and enthusiasm to bring the camp’s spirit to life

REPORTS TO: Lead Counselor(s) and Camp Director
START DATE: June 2025
STARTING PAY: Commensurate with experience.
