General Teaching Position Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School

Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School is seeking a student-centered, engaging, communicative teacher for a general education teaching position. The teacher will engage with their colleagues and our students within an environment dedicated to problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, skill development, and teamwork. We are looking for a teacher who embraces a joyful Jewish culture and shares our commitment to experiential learning. Candidates do not need to be Jewish for this general studies position.

Primary Responsibilities

Keeps students at the center of their decision-making and instructional practice.
Collaborates with colleagues and supports endeavors that benefit the larger community and creates collaborative experiences and share ideas.
Cultivates positive partnerships with parents through consistent and transparent communication about their child’s progress.
Utilizes the constructivist classroom approach and desires to cultivate an emotionally safe educational environment for their students.
Teach students in grades K through 5 or 6 through 8.
Creates an educational environment that helps students to enjoy and appreciate learning.
Supports an inquiry-based model of instruction, including a combination of cooperative learning, direct instruction, labs or hands-on investigations, and manipulatives.
Utilizes instructional strategies that are engaging, research supported, and meet students’ individual needs.
Will write report cards and meet with families as needed to provide insight into their child’s progress.
Performs extra duties such as recess, lunch, and arrival/dismissal duties, as needed.
Attends all faculty meetings, in-service days, and teacher team meetings.
Completes other responsibilities as deemed necessary by their supervisor.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in education or similar is required and a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates have experience working with elementary and middle school students, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and a positive demeanor.

Compensation

Salary is competitive with area independent schools and commensurates with experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits are part of the employment package. Funding exists to support continuing education and professional development. Financial benefits include tuition remission for children of full-time employees.
