Full Time STEM Engineering Teacher Christian Brothers College High School
Job Description: Christian Brothers College High School is seeking a passionate and experienced STEM Engineering Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a committed educator with experience in engineering and STEM education, responsible for teaching a variety of courses that emphasize engineering design, robotics, prototyping, and problem-solving.
The STEM Engineering Teacher will engage students in hands-on, project-based learning experiences, incorporating design thinking, engineering principles, and real-world applications. This role includes active participation in co-curricular STEM activities, such as robotics competitions and makerspace initiatives. Some evening and weekend availability is required for events and competitions.
Responsibilities:
· Teach engaging and rigorous STEM engineering courses, covering topics such as:
o Engineering Design and Drafting
o Principles of Engineering
o Robotics (Introductory & Advanced)
o Makerspace Prototyping
· Design and implement innovative lesson plans that incorporate design thinking, CAD software (AutoCAD), prototyping, and hands-on fabrication.
· Guide students through collaborative, problem-based learning experiences that emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and iteration.
· Serve as a mentor and coach for robotics teams, including participation in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competitions.
· Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
· Collaborate with colleagues to enhance and evolve the STEM curriculum.
· Engage with industry professionals to bring real-world insights into the classroom.
· Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student growth.
Qualifications:
· Experience teaching engineering or STEM courses, preferably at the high school level.
· Proficiency in engineering design, robotics, CAD, and makerspace technologies, including power tools, 3D printers, lasers, CNC.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
· Passion for mentoring students and engaging them in STEM learning beyond the classroom.
· Availability for occasional evening and weekend events related to robotics and other STEM activities.
