Director of Enrollment Management Miriam School and Learning Center
Description
The Director of Enrollment Management leads all aspects of enrollment at The Miriam School, serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director oversees the full enrollment lifecycle, from inquiry through admission, enrollment, and retention, ensuring that families experience a welcoming, thoughtful, and mission-aligned admissions process.
The Miriam School serves bright students with learning differences, including specific learning disabilities, sensory processing disorder, speech and language impairments, ADHD, Level 1 autism, and anxiety. The Director of Enrollment Management will play the key role in helping families understand the School's specialized programming and determining whether Miriam is the right fit for each child.
The Director supervises the Enrollment Assistant and works closely with the administrative team, including Development, Marketing and Communications, Financial Aid, and Academic Leadership, to ensure enrollment strategies support the School's mission and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Enrollment Leadership and Financial Management:
- Develop and implement enrollment strategies that support Miriam School and Learning Center’s mission and long-term sustainability.
- Establish and implement enrollment strategies to ensure the organization's financial sustainability in close collaboration with the Director of Operations and the Finance Department.
- Establish and work to achieve Miriam’s annual enrollment goals and monitor trends in inquiry, application, yield, retention, and attrition.
- Analyze local and national enrollment data and demographic trends to inform planning and decision-making.
- Provide enrollment reports and projections to the Head of School, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and senior leadership team.
- Serve as an active member of the administrative leadership team and contribute to institutional planning, especially in relation to the strategic plan.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to assist with the analysis of the variable tuition data and assist with communications regarding Miriam’s variable tuition.
- Create, communicate, and host scheduled admissions events, including multiple open houses, panels, Financial Aid workshops, play groups, etc.
Admissions Leadership
- Lead the full admissions process from inquiry through enrollment for all grades (K–12).
- Serve as the primary relationship builder with prospective families and guide them through the admissions process.
- Conduct admissions communications and conversations with families and present Miriam's unique programming and philosophy. Oversee a high level of personalization throughout the admissions process.
- Continue to develop Miriam School Ambassadors (parents, students, Board members).
- Review applications and supporting documentation to determine whether the student is a good fit for Miriam's program.
- Facilitate admissions meetings and partner closely with academic leaders to evaluate applicants and make admissions decisions.
Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing and Communications to ensure admissions messaging clearly communicates Miriam's mission and program.
- Partner with the Marketing and Communications regarding all Miriam marketing, including materials, swag, and the website.
- Collaborate with the Financial Aid team on tuition assistance decisions and enrollment planning. Ensure communications to families are timely, compassionate, and professional.
- Work with families, outside agencies, and school administrators to access MO Scholars and other potential scholarships.
- Partner with the Advancement department regarding student sponsorships and donor communications.
- Work closely with the Academic Leadership Team and the Head of School on enrollment planning, student shadow days, and student transitions.
Office Leadership and Operations
- Supervise and mentor the Admissions Assistant.
- Collaborate closely with the Advancement Department regarding Talk and Tours and ensure follow-up communications and any necessary actions are taken.
- Oversee daily operations of the admissions office and ensure timelines and communications are well managed.
- Ensure that all admissions data is updated and accurate.
- Ensure enrollment systems and processes support a positive and organized experience for prospective families.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience in admissions, enrollment management, or independent school administration required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with families, students, staff, and Board Members.
- Compassionate leadership approach to students, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop enrollment strategies.
- Experience working with neurodivergent students and families is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with educational documentation such as psychoeducational evaluations, IEPs, 504 plans, and student transcripts.
