Director of Auxiliary Services, 12-month position

The College School is an independent school of approximately 225 students Preschool through Eighth Grade in St. Louis, Missouri, with a focus on interdisciplinary, experiential, and outdoor education. We seek a highly-skilled and creative individual who knows the importance of cultivating relationships with students in order to empower their success, and who understands the value of our approach.

The Director of Auxiliary Services is a multifaceted role that touches many essential parts of the school community. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator and leader who has worked with students across grade levels and successfully managed school programs.

The position involves:

Reporting to the CFO and Principal, the DAS leads and collaborates on programming, marketing, staff hiring and management, and registration support. The DAS provides a safe, caring, and fun environment for the students attending the following programs: BSP, ASP, No-School Camp, and Auxiliary/Enrichment Programs. 

  • Before School Program (BSP) Hours: 6:45 AM - 8:00 AM
    • Schedules two staff to supervise BSP Monday - Friday for entire school year
  • After School Program (ASP) Hours: 2:45 PM - 6:00 PM
    • Is present to supervise ASP from 2:45 - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday for entire school year, and creates a weekly schedule for other staff
  • No-School Camp Hours: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
    • Is present to supervise Camp for majority of time of  "no-school" days, and creates a schedule for other staff
  • Responsibilities for above programs include but are not limited to:
    • Interviewing and hiring staff
    • Scheduling and managing staff
    • Planning daily stations, activities, games, etc. for the students
    • Organization and purchasing of materials, supplies, snacks, etc.
    • Parent communication as needed
    • Behavior and safety supervision for students enrolled in programs
  • Maintains and expand current sports program, connecting with local sports leagues and organizing volunteer coaches;
  • Works with outside organizations to provide after school enrichment programs
  • Functions as Assistant Summer Camp Director;
    • Helps Summer Camp director with planning and preparation for summer camp during the school year
    • Acts as Assistant Summer Camp director during the summer 
  • On-site substitute teacher as needed daily;
  • Provide occasional trip support (as needed);
  • Either possess a Commercial Driver’s License or is willing to pursue one;
  • Typical school-year hours: 10 a.m.--6 p.m.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO, Principal, or HOS.

Applicants should have:

  • A desire to work hard, learn new things, and be compassionate;
  • Experience in Preschool-8th educational settings;
  • Experience with, or a belief in, outdoor education pedagogy and practice;
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with conflict-management, scheduling, and budgeting
  • The ability to recruit, hire, and train before- and after-school staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the capacity to manage varied responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Additional strengths include detail-oriented, follow-through, and excellent communication skills
