Director of Advancement and Community Engagement Rohan Woods School

The Director of Advancement and Community Engagement plays a vital role in advancing the mission of our school by leading fundraising efforts, fostering meaningful relationships, and strengthening connections across our parent, donor, and alumni communities. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this full time, on-campus position is central to growing philanthropic support, enhancing community partnerships, and promoting a culture of engagement and belonging.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase philanthropic support.
  • Lead all fundraising initiatives, including annual giving campaigns and donor appeals.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward donor prospects to build lasting relationships and grow giving.
  • Oversee gift processing, acknowledgment, donor records, and data integrity.
  • Partner with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to set and meet development goals.

Grant Writing & Management

  • Research, identify, and pursue funding opportunities from foundations and corporations that align with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with all requirements.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and track progress, outcomes, and reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant data and narratives that support proposals and demonstrate impact.

Community Engagement & Communications

  • Deepen engagement with alumni, current families, and community members through targeted outreach and events.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to produce newsletters, annual reports, event communications, and other advancement materials.
  • Represent the school at outreach and community events to promote visibility and connection.
  • Manage and grow the Parent Ambassador Program to support enrollment and community-building efforts.

Skills & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, advancement, or related field preferred.
  • Proven track record in leveraging grants, fundraising initiatives, and stakeholder engagement to build sustainable funding models and ensure financial resilience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience engaging and coordinating volunteers and ambassadors.
  • Proven success in cultivating and managing donor and volunteer relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Constant Contact, and donor management platforms.
