Athletic Director St. Joseph’s Academy

St. Joseph’s Academy’s athletic program embodies a deep-rooted commitment to excellence that spans many sports and many decades – both on and off the field. The Athletic Director (AD) is instrumental in advancing the mission and values of SJA through the development and management of a vibrant and dynamic athletic program. Reporting directly to the Principal of Student Affairs and a member of the school’s Directors’ Circle leadership group, the AD provides visionary leadership, fostering a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, and achievement. This individual will lead efforts to promote athletic excellence and programmatic growth while ensuring a safe, equitable, and positive environment for all student-athletes, coaches, and spectators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration, Education, or related field preferred.

  • Completion of NIAAA Athletic Administration classes.

  • Extensive knowledge of MSHSAA rules and regulations, as well as experience navigating school, conference, and national guidelines for athletic activities.

  • Proven track record of leadership in athletics, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and program development, together with the ability to inspire coaches, student-athletes, and community members.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficient in technology and software related to athletic administration and scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align athletic programs with SJA’s mission and values.

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate coaches while fostering professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with MSHSAA and manage all related documentation.

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, coaches, and staff.

  • Oversee game schedules, facility usage, and event management.

  • Develop policies to ensure safety, risk management, and program effectiveness.

  • Manage the athletic budget, resources, and procurement processes.

  • Promote student-athlete academic and personal growth.

  • Celebrate athletic achievements and engage the community through strategic communications.
