JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment Management, and with oversight from the Senior Associate Director of Admissions, performs a variety of tasks necessary to guide prospective Upper and Middle School families through all aspects of the admission and recruitment process with a focus on strategic attraction and retention initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Work with the Admission Team to plan, coordinate, and implement admission initiatives. Manage outreach activities, visiting feeder schools, attending organized events and fairs, and hosting numerous campus events.
  • Coordinate admission process for applicants to the Upper and Middle Schools. Follow up with families, interview applicant families, oversee admission testing, arrange family visits and tours, communicate final admission decisions and support onboarding transition efforts.
  • Chair Upper and Middle School admission committees. Prepare applicant materials for committee review, evaluate every applicant and lead decision meetings.
  • Recruit, train and supervise parents, student and faculty volunteers for campus visits and tours, admission interviews and special events/activities including admission testing.
  • Effectively utilize admission database systems for prospective family relationship management, communication, organization and maintenance of online application and electronic files. Create customized reports using the database system.
  • Work directly with the Marketing and Communication Office on strategic marketing efforts.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with the Division Heads, Academic Deans, Student Support Team, Athletic Department and faculty on admission information and planning.
  • Participate in School and Independent Schools of St. Louis committee work with special attention to supporting school initiatives at MICDS and the larger St. Louis community.
  • Collaborate to support international student application process, special onboarding programming for international students, and maintenance of SEVP records.
  • Support other members of the Admission Team as needed with recruitment and admission efforts.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.

  JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience preferred.
  • A passion and understanding for independent schools, with prior experience in enrollment/admission preferred.
  • Strong proficiency and acuity with learning a variety of technology applications: word-processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, and email.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with basic marketing and sales principles.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly competitive market environment through creative and innovative strategies.
  • Knowledge of child education development, and experience working with children ages 10-18.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Collaborative point of view; ability to warmly and enthusiastically partner with a team, prospective students and parents, and faculty during the admission process.
  • Ability to pay continual attention to detail and accuracy in composing, typing and proofing materials, Superior organizational skills required.
  • Proven ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, presentations, and professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work additional hours when needed, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Must enjoy working with children. 

OTHER INFORMATION 

  • A criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed.
  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • May work in a varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and admission events.
  • Light physical activity. Work may involve occasional assistance of others in the manipulation of heavy objects and some standing or walking for extended periods of time.
