Special Education & Reading Specialist Tutor Miriam School and Learning Center
Miriam Learning Center is seeking Special Education Teachers and Reading Specialists to join our tutoring team. Tutors will provide individualized academic support to students in Grades K–12 based on each student’s unique learning needs and goals.
Tutoring sessions are provided after school and during evening hours, with opportunities available at our Miriam Learning Center, South County YMCA, and Chesterfield YMCA locations.
Responsibilities

Provide individualized, specialized tutoring to students in Grades K–12.

Support students in areas such as:

Reading
-
Math
-
Writing
-
Executive Functioning and Study Skills

Homework completion and academic organization
-

Develop and implement instruction based on each student’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.

Use research-based instructional strategies and appropriate accommodations to support student learning.

Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.

Communicate with families regarding student progress and areas of continued growth.

Collaborate with school personnel and/or other professionals when appropriate.

Maintain accurate documentation of tutoring sessions and student progress.
Qualifications
-
Special Education Certification OR Reading Specialist Certification required.

Experience working with students in Grades K–12.

Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-based instructional practices.

Ability to individualize instruction based on a student’s learning profile and needs.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to establish positive relationships with students and families.

Previous tutoring or special education/reading intervention experience preferred.
