Second Grade Teacher The College School
The College School, www.thecollegeschool.org, is an independent Preschool through Eighth Grade school in St. Louis, Missouri, with a focus on interdisciplinary, experiential, and outdoor education. We seek a highly-skilled Second Grade teacher who knows the importance of cultivating relationships with students in order to empower their success. We seek someone who is passionate about learning and life; who, through involvement with experiential education, knows the value of our approach; and who is a good fit for our unique learning community.
The position involves:

Joyfully and wisely guiding 7- and 8-year-olds through personal and intellectual discovery;

Collaborating with the other full-time Second Grade co-teacher on design and implementation of an engaging, age-appropriate, thematically-integrated, experiential curriculum;

Curriculum instruction paired with a responsive approach allowing differentiation of individual needs and interests;

A focus on math instruction;

Team teaching in an interdisciplinary project-based class;

Willingness to plan and implement both day and overnight trips that support and enhance thematic learning

Actively participating in and contributing to the school’s professional community and curricular goals through meetings, committees, and professional development;
Applicants should have:

A desire to work hard, to learn new things, and to be compassionate;

Experience teaching experiential, thematic, progressive, child-centered education;

Multiple years of elementary classroom teaching experience;

A desire to contribute to a culture of excellence among students and colleagues;

Experience with or belief in outdoor education pedagogy and practice;

A Master’s degree in an appropriate field is preferred;

An openness to obtaining a CDL license to drive our school buses on trips is preferred
