JOB SUMMARY
MICDS is seeking a dynamic and versatile instructor to cover a long-term substitute teaching assignment that includes teaching four sections of 7th and 8th grade Spanish and serving as a co-advisor to 10-12 MS students. The long-term substitute teacher will prepare and execute lessons from the established curriculum, provide formative and summative feedback to students, and manage all technology support for students. The ideal candidate will have both Middle School and Spanish teaching experience. This is a temporary position without benefits. This position is anticipated to begin in mid-August at the start of the school year.

The long-term substitute teacher is expected to uphold the following essential functions:
- Select and develop related print and online course materials.
- Create effective assessment tools to support student achievement and growth.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning environment.
- Evaluate, document and communicate student progress through reporting systems and conferences.
- Attend faculty, grade level and departmental meetings and supervisory duties.
- Serve as grade level advisor for 10-12 students and implement grade level programming and advisory curriculum.
- Assist and support students outside of class as needed.
- Communicate consistently with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate effectively with departmental and grade level teams as well as student support service personnel.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree in subject matter required and Master preferred.
- Ability to work in an environment that embraces a diverse community of students, educators, parents, and alums.
- Experience working in a one-to-one laptop environment or relevant technology skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must enjoy working and learning with children.
OTHER INFORMATION
- A criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed prior to employment.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment.
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
