 JOB SUMMARY

 Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) seeks to hire a passionate teacher/coach that will help students learn to exercise properly and learn to enjoy being physically active.  This position is for the Fall and Winder seasons that run from August 20, 2026, through February 26, 2027.  The Essential Fitness coach requires a deep understanding of human movement, exercise progressions and regressions, as well as methods for helping students to make exercise an enjoyable habit.  The coach is responsible for leading small group workouts and helping students become independent with developing their own exercise routine. In addition, the coach is responsible for keeping track of exercise time and communicating with students and Physical Education Department Chair if students are not getting in all of the required exercise time.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Fitness Coach: 

  • Build strong relationships with students
  • Creates and leads group workouts in the fitness center
  • Leads a workout from 3:30-4:30 pm and supervises the fitness center from 4:30-5:00 every day school is in session
  • Reports poor attendance to the Physical Education Department Chair
  • Helps maintain a clean and safe fitness center environment 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in an exercise related field
  • Experience with creating and leading workouts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working and learning with children and adults
