The Academy of the Sacred Heart, an independent, private, Catholic school in Saint Charles, MO, invites applications for a Pre-Primary (PreK-4) Lead Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.  Ideal candidates should have an excellent background and experience in early childhood education.  Employees of the Academy are required to be collaborative members of a highly professional learning community.

Mission Expectation

Once hired, Academy faculty members are expected to familiarize themselves with and live the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
  • State teaching certification in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills. 

Other Professional Expectations: 

·         Demonstrate a sincere passion for working with young students.

·         Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with early childhood learning standards.

·         Provide instruction in early literacy, math readiness, social-emotional development, and motor skills.

·         Use hands-on activities, play-based learning, and exploration to support student engagement.

·         Establish consistent routines and clear behavioral expectations.

·         Assist with daily routines including transitions, snacks, and rest times.

·         Promote positive social interactions and problem-solving skills among students.

·         Use a variety of teaching strategies including differentiating instruction to meet the developmental needs of all learners.

·         Collaborate with assistants, specialists, and support staff to meet student needs.

·         Inspire students to be in relationship with God and grow in their life of prayer.

·         Assess student progress and maintain appropriate documentation.

·         Possess effective classroom management skills.

·         Communicate effectively and regularly with colleagues and parents.

·         Utilize and integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.

·         Participate in parent teacher conferences and school events.

·         Commit to ongoing professional development and growth.

·         Demonstrate competence in, or desire to grow in, the charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart.
