Thomas Jefferson School seeks a full-time admissions professional to begin August 1, 2025. The Director of Admissions will take the lead in overseeing and managing the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of mission-appropriate students. They will be a key member of the school’s Leadership Team and work in close partnership with the Head of School on admissions strategy. Additionally, the Director of Admissions will partner with the Communications Coordinator and Assistant to Admissions and Development, who support both the Admissions and Development Offices. 

Desired background, qualifications and qualities for this position include: 

  • bachelor’s degree or higher
  • knowledge of the independent school sector; preference given to candidates with boarding-school experience
  • experience in admissions work, at the secondary or college level
  • excellent communication skills and talent for organization
  • ease with pertinent technologies, including Google Workspace and Blackbaud
  • financial acumen, analytical mindset
  • ability to keep thorough records, compile meaningful statistics, and leverage data
  • customer-service orientation, including meticulous follow-through
  • sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences among current and prospective families
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • collegial spirit, positive outlook, and sense of humor 
  • genuine appreciation of adolescents and compassion for parents
