Job Summary
Rosati-Kain Academy is seeking a dynamic and talented teacher to join the Science Department to teach Chemistry 1 in the 2026-2027 academic year. A successful candidate will bring a collaborative nature and a student-centered approach to classroom instruction as well as a commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse group of learners. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching chemistry and can effectively engage students in critical thinking, problem solving, modeling, and collaborative work. The primary teaching load includes sophomore Chemistry 1 and AP Chemistry. We are seeking a candidate comfortable navigating the transition from foundational chemical principles to advanced, college-level inquiry with a strong hands-on laboratory component throughout. The position also comes with the expectation of service as a grade level advisor and additional community responsibilities such as club sponsorship.
Essential Functions

Work within the department and with the curriculum team to plan, document, evaluate and revise Chemistry 1 course curriculum and content. Aligning course materials and methods of instruction with established learning objectives.

Select and develop relevant print and online course materials.

Create effective assessment tools to support student achievement and growth.

Implement effective and culturally responsive classroom management strategies to ensure an inclusive and productive learning environment.

Evaluate, document, and communicate student progress through appropriate avenues of communication with administration/academic interventionist/parents/guardians.

Serve as a grade level advisor for 15-20 students and collaborate with colleagues to implement grade level programming and advisory curriculum.

Participate in the RKA professional development framework and pursue outside opportunities to stay current with best practices and maintain expertise in subject matter.

Collaborate effectively with departmental and grade level teams as well as student support service personnel to maximize student success.

Work within the department to incorporate inquiry-based STEM instruction that includes modeling curriculum.

Engage in effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.

Assist in other projects and take on responsibilities that may be added at the Principal’s discretion.
Job Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry required and Master’s degree preferred; Candidates with a M.S. in Chemistry can opt for offering a 1818 or dual credit class in combination with or in lieu of the A.P. Chemistry course.

Missouri secondary teaching certification and teaching experience preferred but not required

Ability to work in an environment that embraces a diverse community of students, educators, parents and alumnae

Experience working in a one-to-one iPad environment or related technology skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Enthusiasm for developing content that is culturally responsive and inclusive

Willingness to support the spiritual well-being of students within a Roman Catholic context
Other Information

A criminal history and background check are required and must be successfully completed prior to employment.

Work primarily takes place in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment with an integrated lab space.
