The Academy of the Sacred Heart, an independent, private, Catholic school in Saint Charles, MO, invites applications for an art teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Ideal candidates must have experience as a successful art teacher. Employees of the Academy are required to be collaborative members of a highly professional learning community.

Mission Expectation
Once hired, Academy faculty members are expected to familiarize themselves with and live the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.

Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art lessons
- Incorporate a variety of media, techniques, and art history into instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students
- Utilize and integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression in a supportive classroom environment
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming art room that encourages creativity and respect
- Establish clear routines and expectations for behavior, material use, and cleanup
- Promote respect for materials, artwork, and peers
- Ensure proper use and storage of art materials and tools
- Follow all safety procedures, especially when using specialized equipment
Student Assessment & Growth
- Assess student progress through projects, participation, and skill development
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
Faith Integration
- Integrate Catholic values and teachings into lessons when appropriate
- Encourage appreciation of beauty as a reflection of God’s creation
- Support the spiritual development of students through art
Communication
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Share student artwork through displays, newsletters, or school events (e.g., art shows)
- · Respond to parent inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Collaboration
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular connections
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional learning communities
- Support school-wide initiatives and programs
- Lead and/or help monitor a middle school student club during normal school hours
Professionalism
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, attitude, and conduct
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures
- Commit to ongoing professional development and growth to enhance teaching practices
